you've just exposed a flaw with the later coil with inbuilt module. As the module is what usually fails, and not the coils on Powertorque engines, having it like that forces you to replace the lot instead of the cheaper and readily available separate module.
Must have been designed to simplify production.
One disadvantage of the later Chinese made engine castings over the Australian ones.
I wonder if there's a way to bypass the dead module and and fit a different one?
