Ahh that's right shaft drive ,hadn't looked at my old Honda self drives for a couple of years now.
Yes sounds like they are not worth fixing especially if the transmission is weak to start with.
Yep they are heavy I remember leaving a couple on the car roof rack for a few days
until I could be bothered lifting them off , better using a lighter base.
