I'm pulling apart a 8hp B&S, maybe the carb would fit.... I won't need it I don't. This carb works well. Just let me take it apart and see what I'm doing with it..

Speedy, thats a very kind offer but I'm sure I'll be able to get this one going with a lil more elbow grease. After looking at some photos of others carbs it's not as bad as it could have been, just the worst I've ever dealt with - but then again I'm very pedantic about draining the carb bowl before putting into storage and running the motor after the fuel tap is turned off etc.

PS. FWIW probably don't use oxalic acid to soak carbs in.....silly of me, its fine for stainless steel but I assume the carbs are made from pot metal or similar. Luckily I checked early and though it removed all the varnish it did pit the carb up a little and strip the brass coating from the steel valves. I don't think it was badly damaged but not something I'd use again.
