Scott Bonnar - Model 40 Electric

Greetings,

Am posting these pics of my newly acquired Scott Bonnar Model 40 electric mower. It is not in too bad shape to look at and everything appear to be intact.

A couple of issues are that the motor may need a rewind or just brushes as it barely spins. The other main issue is the (as you look at it from the front) the right hand catcher mounting bolt is gone.

The blades are dull as a babies bum and much accumulated gunk on cylinder and sole plate has zero edge (this as expected for machine of this vintage. The paint is remarkably good for its age.

Am I insane wanting to get this restored by father's day so my nephew can give it to his dad and hopefully in many year time inherit this classic bit of Aussie manufactured kit? Oh the days when we could actual make stuff here.

Am going to introduce myself in new members for once have some pics up.

Cam.

PS I don't have money to burn as on fixed income and might be better off getting pre restored machine.

Apologies for huge pics. Didn't appear that way in preview.

At least I should be able to get an opinion if the sprockets are still serviceable. blush
