My Rover Baron 45

I was given this Rover Baron 45 by a relative. I've detailed it up a bit. It's a 1976 model, seems to be in good Nik. I stripped it down and got rid of the lawn mulch stuck around the cooling fins. It starts second pull. Oil is black so will change it. Owner was a tight arse so it's probably the original oil from 1976. I'm looking for an air filter

Back when Rovers were pure quality. That yellow engine against the pearl blue was a striking combination. When did Rover decide red base and black motor was the way to go?

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

That is one of the cleanest original Baron's I have ever seen! Very nice.
Air filter is the standard rover snorkel filter A03189.

Rover changed to red in 1981 when they released the new generation Rancher. My collection stops at 1979 for that reason

Hello MRB, MF and nath

I have fond memories of the Model 29 Baron.
It was Rovers most successful mower of the day, and
a worthy replacement to its great predecessor -
the Model 26, Challenger.

Rover's best seller moved from the mid-arch Challenger
to the Baron. Both were great successes for Rover mowers.

This was the first Rover to use a yellow 9 series, a new colour
Briggs offered at that time.

Many thanks for the memories!

p.s. I love the image: the shed, the mower, the water tank.
Brilliant!

Very nice mower, with original catcher on the back by the looks of it. I had one of those catchers in very fragile condition a while back but I unfortunately knocked it off the bench one day and it fell to bits. They were unfortunately not UV stabilized and crumbled away in no time in the sunlight.
