I think I have solved my Victa worn out wheel problem, I bought 4 new 8" wheels for $6 ($1.50 each), ran a 14mm drill through them but 14mm is a fraction tight, so I will give the stubs a polish with a bit of emery and that should fix it. Gives them a different look with wheels the same size but looks fine, a bit like the Tornado/Big Bob style. Interesting to see how they go.

Does the Victa Torpedo sorry Tornado normally come with 8 inch wheels front and rear?
I found a steely decked Victa with those wheels and I recently fitted 7s in the front as I thought 8s looked abit much myself. I wasn't sure if it originally came like that but apparently it did. Keep us posted on your new wheel set.

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

Hi MF these are the wheels from a place just up the road from here so I can pick them up without any problems. I have only put them on an alloy base Powertorque to see how they look and they don't look too bad. Gives it a rugged look similar to the Big Bobs/Tornados. I haven't tried posting any pics since the new format, not sure if it works the same as they did before but here are the wheels.

One issue it does give me is a lot of the height adjuster arms have to be modified because the bigger wheel catches on it. Bit of a pain but fixable. I did consider boring the center out and fitting a Delrin bush but I'm interested to see how the existing wears because it looks very similar to the MTD wheels and they don't have bushes in them, they run straight on the wheel

Won't the mower be sitting on it's haunches abit after moving from 6" wheels at the front. That's a 1" raise in height.
They look like Sanli wheels I found, except they have sets of bearings in them.

The Sanli wheels I have seen are way to expensive for what I am doing at least these are in the right price range even if I had to machine up delrin bushes for them. I haven't tried them on a steel base, too busy on other stuff, but I don't see any problem with the height and anybody who wants a cheap mower only want something that works as it should and won't give them problems.

Sounds like a great cost effective solution to this worn wheel problem. Hope it ultimately leads to much more mowers doing grass cutting duties instead of sitting disused or worse!!!
