Just joking, of course. I think they meant OHV. I thought you guys might get a laugh out of it but for all I know about mechanics maybe it is an OHC. I think it was selling for about $450. Space age design but will it cut grass?

Hi sparker,
without looking at it I would guess it is both OHV and OHC, can't recall if any of the Chondas I have messed with were OHC but plenty of the later Hondas are

Its funny how the Ryobi with the Subaru engine looks (engine wise) almost identical to the one with the yamaha.

I still prefer my mowers with no valves or cams at all - just transfer ports haha

It's the same Subaru Engine, just made by Yamaha now, they bought out that Division from Fuji.

Wait til they bring out twin overhead cam and 4 Valve, that's the next progression I'd say.

Cheers,
BB.

BB, I'll need a slasher base, welder, suitable motorcycle engine, and hold my beer!

Husqvarna, Stihl and Ryobi have electronically controlled carbs, or even outright fuel injection on some of their small engines these days...! 👀

Oh that's why they say Yamaha now. Does that mean Subaru badged mower engines will become collectable in years to come?
Maybe all wheel drive self propelled system should have been adopted.

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

Well I knew I was slow just finding out things but three years is pushing it. laugh

So now we have the supersession Robin > Subaru > Yamaha. Just another thing to confuse the consumer. Of course as long we can still get parts is the main thing.

Here we have Tecumseh engine that we can't ready get parts for that were made the original Tecumseh engine group and with the new Tecumseh it make consumers mad that I get can not repair their older engine due lack of parts. And there is Murray which went out of business, brought by Briggs and they lease out the Murray name to MTD and Husqvarna along Briggs making Murray products so when working on a Murray mower you got to pay attention the serial number tag as to manufactured it so you can even look-up parts.

We really got to stay on top things with all these changes just we can find to info and parts we need to do the repairs. It does makes the job harder if you don't keep up.

MF, maybe one day in 2050 we will see a subie engined Ryobi alongside a WRX at a car show, like I sometimes see with Victa's now - eg Victa corvette with Chevy, or simply '61 Holden and '61 Victa together.

I don't know if these will last long enough to see that though - they are somewhat thin decked disposable type mowers although not as much as the yard kings sold next to them in bunnings.

The engine might hold up though - at least with this ea190v engine, it is a timing chain rather than the belt that could let way and be a bugger to change. And a cast iron liner.

Carbies will most likely be the downfall.

Well aren't I silly, I just realised that my GX100 is OHC too.
