Hi,

I have a Kirby Tecumseh engine which I think is a H25, Unfortunately I can’t find any engine numbers or model numbers.

I’m currently refurbing a Scott Bonner 33 and want to freshen up the Kirby motor, Can anyone help me out with which model it is so I can order the correct parts needed.

Parts needed:-

Engine gasket kit.

Bearing.

Front and rear engine seals.

Carby rebuild kit.

New muffler assembly.

Con rod.

Ring set.

Also can you still get the black rubber hose that I'm assuming is crank vent / breather tube?

I will attach some photos for reference.

Much appreciated Damo

Hi Damo S, welcome to our Forum.

Not sure about your parts availability, bearings and seals will be fine from any bearing shop. Gasket set should be ok but conrod might be an ask. The hose is available but dear at between $20-$30. I will find a link for you soon.

There is another recent thread of a similar rebuild which should benefit you, I will post it here for you shortly.

Hi Damo S

I have attached a Tecumseh parts identification broucher that lists models, part numbers and pictures, once you can identify the parts you need just do a google or eBay search on those numbers and see what comes up, the sad part is the parts will be available in the U.S and shipping will burn you if you need a few parts from different suppliers, if you desperately just need 1 or 2 parts you might bite the bullet and pay it but for a handfull of parts you would be better off waiting for another engine to pop up cheap and use it for parts.
Gasket kits are cheap and not a problem to source, just make sure you measure the PTO seal as I believe some same models came with 2 different shaft sizes i.e 2 different seal sizes

Good luck.

BS

You’re on the right track thinking it’s a Tecumseh H25/HK25 style engine, as those Kirby-built units were commonly fitted to Scott Bonnar 33s in the 60s–70s, but without the exact model/spec number (usually stamped on the blower housing or a tag) it’s hard to guarantee exact part matches because there were multiple variations with different crank sizes, seals, and internals ; the good news is most service parts like gasket kits, seals, rings, and even bearings are still available or can be matched through generic suppliers, and items like the breather tube can still be sourced aftermarket, but for critical parts like the con rod or piston/rings you really want to confirm bore size and spec before ordering, as H25 variants differ slightly, so your best approach is to identify it visually against a parts manual or measure key components, then cross-reference—because with these engines, bearings and seals are easy, but getting the wrong internal parts can cause more trouble than it’s worth.
