G'day
Max and
wceYep, interesting and no-name for sure, Max
As mysterious as the
Carter mowers.
This one has the earliest of the height adjusters - with rotary knob,
and no facility to take a catcher. And a light
blue green colour,
like the
Qualcast-Turners.
Catcher facility seems to have come - on Turners - in late 1960.
That does not necessarily help date this one though, given it was
a store brand not designed to compete with Turner branded models.
The earliest store brands I have found are the
Anderson-Turners,
beginning in late 1961 - but they had lever height adjusters, as
did the
Qualcast-Turners.
Both lever adjusters and catchers, then, seem to have arrived
in late 1961 for the 1962 range, and these features
were offered
to Eric Anderson (store brand), and Qualcast (as a factory re-brand),
Both Anderson and Qualcast had base-cast branding.
This one has lost its decal, had no catcher, has the earliest chassis,
and has a blue hammertone finish.
The numerous mount holes suggest 2 and 4 strokes, including the
early GEB 135 cc 4-strokes.
I do not understand those two most outer holes in the deck (discharge side).
Executive summary: Max, I have no idea.

Any ideas or thoughts?
