I bought a couple of power torques from tip shop for $20 as I needed a starter.......
Took the starter I wanted ........
The rest looked Ok, good wheels . broke starter cord. He was have a pest of a time..........
I hosed it down, cleaned it up. Had to hose out the grass from inside engine as back of carb fell off.
I checked the spark by hand with starter removed, good spark.
Anyway got it all cleaned and back together..........
First pull and cord broke........ that little wire guide had some sharp edges.... I saw , should have filed them down.
I'll try again later on.............It's a 1999 Victa Commando Mulch or Cut with special base plate.
cheers

I don't like 7" wheels on the front. It looks overkill to me. I'd love to get my mitts in that red cover though.
Very smart looking mower overall. Should sell quickly.

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

Speedy I love fixing the PT cords, so simple it takes about 5 mins and that includes taking the top cover off

Yes MF I am going to keep this one as I like the cover and I have another black one.. Get rid of older models...
The 7" wheels should run better over rough ground......
Yes Norm the cords are easy to replace. I had to rewind the spring on last week. Wasn't too hard as long as you start at the centre ....

It's a brown head gasket. And I'll do a decoke, lucky I did that as a ring was stuck in a groove.
I'll burn the gunk out of the muffler too in my burner.
I want to thrash it on a few jobs.......... later on.

The other PT was a 2002 model engine put on an old base....... rebuilt.
With perfect bore and near new rings......Want to use it.
Super weak spark so I have to take it apart.
The guy tightened up everything to the max.
I couldn't get spark pug out, so had to break it off and use a socket.
The base plate wouldn't come off with rattle gun, so my 130kg mate got it of with an extension bar on a socket...
Two motor bolts rounded as I was removing them.
Took the heads off as now, I'll just cut them off and drill out or try to flatten each side and use a shifter to loosen them. I soaked them in WD40 for a day before.
You have to take the challange........
Nothing to loose

I never understand why people do spark plugs up so tight. By no means should they be left loose, but finger tight, then a bit more (something like 1/3 of a turn - i just do it by feel).
NGK are a bit different, their plug washers are quite thick (on bp6es plugs anyway) and are sometimes disconcerting - especially when installing in a 35 year old car with an alloy head smile

That is why I went out and bought a 1050nm rattle gun, haven't found anything to stop it so far

weak spark, Hey Norm, I came across you old post about airgap setting. Victa says 25 th, and I never got a spark, you said 10 and I got a good spark.
I checked the coil with my new multimeter and it was 8.66 ohms. I read on some post that you can chuck them out if they are under 9 ohms......
I have two other coils that I was going to chuck, won't now.
Wierd hey?
The mower is going well..

Speedy, one thing I never place much faith in is what other people say and in particular you tube, so many people spruik what somebody has told them or they have seen somewhere, then it is put on you tube and it becomes fact. I don't recall finding a dead Powertorque coil yet

I put 8 in wheels on front................ rolls well..........
The front is 10 mm higher than the back.
The other Victa 19in cut PT had bigger wheels both front and back.
Just mowed the back lawn before weather event, cyclone Owen..... and front from south .
cheers

You've given me an idea Speedie. Swap the orange hub caps on my red base powertorque Victa with a set of my many spare grey ones. That combination works.
