Lovely job Mr Jones. I'm not into Scotties, but I found a couple of ramshackle ones, one of which has this motor. I understand they are a bit notorious for problems, which makes me admire your efforts all the more for overcoming adversity and keeping it original.

Excellent job Mr Jones, my only issue with these restorations is when they are finished to this level you could never bring yourself to put it back to mowing lawns, at least I couldn't. Was it the whole project or just the Tecumesh that broke your spirit, remember there is another winter coming next year

I really like the grey paint on the rollers. This is how they left the factory at that time.
I notice the addition of a chaincase seal. Mr Jones, do you have any advice on the use of this seal? I guess it is an off-the-shelf, sensible addition.
Glad to see you are back here again. We seem to be losing some of the Model 45 experience to the FB sites as of late which is rather sad to say the least.
But in saying that we seem to retain the sensible restorers while it's the flippers that have rushed over to the FB sites and for that I'm rather happy.
Again you have produced an excellent result / product, something to be super proud of indeed.

I live a 24 Hour lifestyle, but every now and again I seem to fall asleep, well at least that's what my wife tells me.
I always like to restore in original colours or as best as I can in what is available. Even painted the rear roller retainers as per original! As for the the pinch crimp it's a good add on for keeping 90% of the fine grass clippings out, still looks fairly good, if and is easily removed if you desire. I have it on my daily drivers and does make a big difference on maintenance and cleaning down the track. Don't have a catcher yet but would like to source with the pressed side panels as per original but proving difficult. I have one I could use and cut but need to put a new skin on and this looks difficult. Any advise on how to or source appreciated. Cheers, Mr.Jones

That's what I suspect is behind the drying up of Victa posts. I hate FarceBook for multiple reasons, but the main one is it locks up information to the very few and makes access difficult for others out there. It encourages clique behaviour, something Aussies and Americans are notorious for.

MF I do my best to keep the 2 strokes alive, this morning I fixed a Victa 24, pulled the G3 off and put an LM on it and away he went rapt to the eyeballs that his machine is able to breathe fire again. And I don't know what this facebook thingamajig is, I can't understand why people would want to know when I brushed my teeth
Problem always was that people idolise famous people and social media just gives every numb nut a platform to let everyone know how wonderful their life is and how horrible everyone else's is, thus it makes them feel good about themselves.

Thanks for the response Mr Jones. I'm a real newby to these mowers, and back in December when I first saw the pics I was very impressed with the restoration. Whilst it's only been a month, I have a much better understanding of these machines and what goes in to a quality restoration. Having said that, I can appreciate just what this mower is worth, and as NormK said in a post above, it would be hard using it just to mow lawns, and of course justifying the price. I think I'll keep looking for one that is more suitable for that job and priced accordingly. Thanks anyway!
