I need a starter mechanism for a later Briggs, the version that is riveted on that is on the later style Quantums. The one I had is an usual unit that is totally non serviceable as it has it's centre shaft pressed and flared opposed to the small centre bolt that is normally removable.
Cheers, BB.
I live a 24 Hour lifestyle, but every now and again I seem to fall asleep, well at least that's what my wife tells me.
Sorry BB, I can't recall seeing one of those, but must admit I don't look that hard at them. Problem with Quantams there seems to be a number of variations in the tops. I still have a few that I haven't looked at here so if you can give me bolt holes or whatever I can have a look. MF the only one with a leg out of bed was a reasonably new 12.5 hp OHV one but there was plenty in there that had the death rattles and a number that had been run dry of oil
Those roll pin style can be taken apart with an appropriate punch, hammer, and a backer socket. The problem is getting a new nylon washer for the slip resistance if it is the problem. Otherwise I have replaced several recoil springs in this style cover over the years. It just take some care and patience when doing it as you can break the flair if you get too aggressive reinstalling it. Also close attention on how things are assemble.
