can anyone tell me if a 28" deck will go on in place of a 30" deck(greenfield)

G'day gml, No reason why not. The only consideration is the cutter clutch arrangement. The 28" is probably from a Tractor model which had the clutch mounted behind and seperate to the deck. The 30" is probably from an anniversary or evolution model (?). The clutch on these had components that were mounted on the deck. No real problem, just means you need to drill a few holes in the deck to mount these components.  I'll do a bit of research...... Cheers,

I'm not sure but aren't the cutter deck pulleys threaded the opposite ways and the discharge chute is on the opposite sides. Just throwing it out there. Right hand throw is right hand thread, left hand throw is left hand thread, somehow the belts must be running in the opposite direction

The penny has dropped! You're talking about the deck off old yella?? If so Norm is right. The horizontal shaft engined machines threw to the right. The vertical shaft engine machines throw to the left.
No. It won't fit.
Sorry gml, I was thinking of a 28" deck off a Tractor model.
