I picked up my Snapper today, it needs repainting, the seat recovered, not sure on the mechanical side yet.
I managed to just fit it in my shed but not much room to work on it so it could be a slow process.
These mowers are built like tanks, nice & solid cheers2

gmax,

I will see if I can get some information on the ride on soon. The one that I posted was older than the one you have bought I am sure.

Good luck with the resto. cheers2

Thanks Bruce, I had a look at the Snapper website for some info,
they have heaps of manuals/IPL's but not for my model frown
I think its about 1990 vintage, 12.5HP twin.

Billy Boy,Darryl, I will be respraying it using 2pack paint, fixing the seat, going through the mechanical side of it.The electrics need some work.
It was my fathers, he is pretty slack when it comes to looking after
equipment, he left it uncovered in the weather for a few years.

He bought a new John Deere ride on, i hope he looks after it better than the Snapper.

Anyway it should keep me busy for a while.

I took the seat to a motor trimmer for a quote to have it repaired,
i was quoted $165.00, seems high to me.
I might get a few more quotes.

Bruce,

Those seats are on ebay, the bolt mounts are about 1/2 an inch out,
they cost more than $165.00 with postage.
I will look at having it repaired first, thanks

The latest is i got 3 more quotes $185, $200 bigshock,
and $130, $130 seems ok so i will get it done.
I mowed my lawn with the snapper, it cuts fine, then i pressure
cleaned it.
Just need some warmer weather because i will be spraying it with
2 pack paint outside, too cold & that paint runs like crazy.

Hi Darryl, yes $200.00 was a shock,
Now i have a question about the trans, i want to add lubricant to
the trans, there is a level plug. The snapper manual says to use
"snapper 00 grease"?. is that grease or i would have thought
80/90 gear oil would be the correct lubricant to use?

gmax,

You can buy '00' grease, it's a grease that sticks to the gears and drops back down to the bottom of the sump. Gear oil would not really be good enough as it would bubble up and expand as the grease will not.

Any good oil supplier would have it. cheers2

Hi,Darryl, I'm not stripping it anymore, i will put the wheels on then push it outside, sand, clean, mask then paint it.
I had to repair a laptop today, it took half a day to fix, full of trojans, the poor bloke was trying to run Vista with only 512MB of ram bigshock.

I will take more photos later on.

Hang on guys I used to do warranty work on the old Ryobi machines and they were ok. But I must admit that with the amount of rubbish coming out of China these days I would have to agree that they are lucky to run. cheers2
