Hello everyone I really appreciate the knowledge & advice given on the forum The friendly nature & old fashioned helpfulness has inspired me to obtain & restore an old 17 inch SB 45 The engine is B&S but incomplete & a non runner with no engine cowling & hence no numbers for dating same It is a 2 rail design & rails are ( were ) bent & cracked I have gusseted under the rails with 2 custom folded full length 3 mm channels welded to the frame ends as well as to the the engine mount nuts Have purchased a new B&S 3 1/2 HP engine as I intend to use it on a regular basis Have stripped & repainted all parts & am waiting on new bearings The paint job is not a display finish but is meant to be more or less faithful to the era of manufacture As it will be in regular use I have not gone to too much trouble with panel beating ETC Am much more at home in the shed with mechanical stuff than I am with typing & computers I will get my son to post some pics of the progress
G'day Jungles, On behalf of the ODK Team, may I extend the warmest of welcomes to our Forums. I do like to think of this place as the SB45's 'spiritual home in cyberspace'.
I'd say you've made by far the wisest choice, in your selection of the re-engine option for your Scotty.
Cheers, Gadge
