Gentlemen, Do you know anything about the following email source? It contains a PGP signature file and attachment of Fedex package number info. I haven't opened it as it is unknown source and looks to be from a spammer. I know I get fake Fedex shipment email from time to time.

hodgpodgcreation@hodgpodgcreation.com.au

It claiming a package is being sent me in the US but I haven't ordered anything from AU.

Kinda what I was thinking that somehow someone in you part of the world got my email address. Antivirus didn't find but I am deleting the unopen email just to be safe. I also flag that email address as bad.

I do get several phony emails in my Yahoo accounts but those accounts are setup just to catch the scammers. My main accounts email address are seldom put out except to businesses I contact directly.

Tnx,
Eugene

There was a recent breach of Yahoo accounts and an alert went out to change passwords, perhaps yours got targeted then.

That one I know as Yahoo has me resetting all three Yahoo accounts passwords. The above email was to my business account on the my local internet provider which has nothing to do with Yahoo as it an internal email system.

Just going tighten up security a little more here. These predators are a pain to everyone. Right I getting targeted emails in my Gmail account that got $5,000 in my account. I did a source view and it definitely a scammer trying to get me to bite. Not going to do it. I am on a diet and I am avoiding anything with spam. lol

The main reason I ask and to also make people aware of is these scammers appear to now trying to make things look more official by attaching a encrypted signature file. This is the first one I received.

See you later in the Tech forums.

Hello AVB and aussietrev

I certainly agree with aussietrev's caution.
The internet is rife with phishing scams.

If you do not recognise it, do not open it, or any attachments!
If you can add 'block sender' then do it.

In your case, hodgpodgcreations is said to be involved in ceramics.
But where is their web presence? The home page survey rings the alarm bells!

AVB, you are no gullible person.
But I fear for the other honest folk out there who take things on face value.

Cheers

G'day Norm

I'm not sure if AVB would be familiar with the word 'sangers'.
I always thought that Spam was of English origin. I was surprised that
it is an American product and icon... made famous for its use in WWII.

By the early 1970s the name "Spam" became a genericized trademark, used to describe any canned meat product containing pork, such as pork luncheon meat. With expansion in communications technology, it became the subject of urban legends about mystery meat and other appearances in pop culture. Most notable was a Monty Python sketch portraying Spam as tasting horrible, ubiquitous and inescapable, characteristics which led to its name being borrowed for unsolicited electronic messages, especially spam email. Well, I used to think the game of tennis originated from Tennessee.

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

Yelp originally it was use the packaged spiced chopped ham but have more associated with email nowadays.

And Cyberjack I definitely wasn't familiar with the "sangers" term even with it also being related to construction. I had to Google it. Just shows how dumb I am...

NOT at all AVB ...
It shows that Australia, just like the USA, has a rich local slang.
