Just wondering when the current Victa logo first appeared? The one with the lines below and above the lettering. This has been a very successful symbol for such a long time and one of the few that hasn't been meddled with so far, like too many others that don't look as good as the former one.

I have seen it on brochures with the 1960s type impulse start Corvette that still had the old Victa symbol without the lines showing on the deck and the triangle symbol next to it.
I'm guessing about 1968 is when it first came about on brochures and first appeared on the mowers themselves with the 1970 introduction of the VC 160.

I think I recall the new Victa logo also appearing on the Corvette's plastic catcher, whilst the deckstill used the outgoing logo.

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

G'day Mowerfreak,

A good place to look, would be the collection of annual Victa sales brochures that CyberJack has posted in the History Section here. There are lacunae in the collection thus far, but still a very useful source.

Cheers,
Gadge

G'day Mowerfreak and GM Gadge

This is the first time this question has been asked here.
It is an important question too!

I was surprised to find that the current Victa logo is quite old -
in fact - 50 years' old this year!

By looking at factory advertisements it is pretty clear that the
current logo was introduced in late 1966 for the 1967 Range Year.

It's a clever logo; in that it is simple and stylized.
Everyone knows that underlining adds importance to the message.
But, the additional line (above) could represent a mowing strip!
This was a simpler version of the previous logo that had multiple
lines running through the name 'Victa'.

This logo remains, today, without alteration.
It remains a credit to the logo designer.

That is brilliant CyberJack. Just the sort of thing I want to see. I can't believe this logo was around that far back. Amazing.
Does anyone know why there was a delay in seeing it on the machines? The VC seemed like good debut for it, though, assuming that was the case.

Hi All,

Imagine if they ran that competition today, would be very interesting indeed.

Cheers,
BB.

This is an interesting question Mowerfreak has asked.
I have started to address this issue here ...
