This one is fitted with a standard Rover catcher and rear flap which means an alloy base, full crank high arch and an easy to obtain Rover catcher. You can see the kill switch mounted on the side of the cowl where the decomp hose used to go through

Interesting solution but sacrilege!!
The thumb latch catchers built up to 1992 will fit on that base.
Speaking of bases, that one is in very good condition. Most are worn in the near side.
Could I trouble you to show is the frontal view?

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

I have plenty of those alloy base high arch mowers, these are working mowers, not just for a collection and the Rover catcher is a good fix for a mower that is being used to cut grass. I do have a number of the catchers that suit the alloy base but probably not as many as the bases I have.

Thank you for great support. I have a spark. As advised here, I think the root problem was the kill wire, but I did get in and trim the magneto. Still no go so I must have a stab at the carby, with reference to the link you provided. Cheers.

If you get really stuck and you still want to cut the grass you could bring it here and I will get it going for you, only thing it is a decent drive from Macedon to Hampton Park, but I have had people drive greater distances all in the name of getting their mower running

NormK---thank you for generous offer but not in any trouble, small patch of grass and I have support. Repair effort will be a leisurely hobby project!
