Hello all Scott here and I live in Warwick, QLD. I've only been collecting stuff for a few short years so still very green in the hobby. I have lots of questions. Mrs Scotty and I have a passion for the not-so-common and often neglected items such as garden products, large farm machinery, old engines and tools. IanOZ from here has helped me immensely with projects of the Southern Cross nature. I came into contact with this forum as a result of finding the Grasshopper reel mower. I'm so glad I did. I really enjoy the historical aspect of the forum. We have a few old mowers (push reel, powered reel, powered push, rideon, walk behind slashers etc) other garden maintenance items such as edge trimmers and brushcutters. We also have a few old stationary engines sitting in the sheds as well as item powered by the old engines like pumps, chaff cutters, grain grinders and the like. There's a few old cars as well. Anyways, that enough about me. Cheers Scott

Hello Scotty
A warm welcome to these great forums.
I'm sure your eye for often neglected items is a reward in itself. I admire the folk that save and preserve the almost forgotten.
Your finding of the Grasshopper reel is a real treat. It is not often realized that Grasshopper were making rotary mowers before Victa, and their first petrol machine was advertised in November of 1952 ... meaning that this was within weeks of Victa's first rotary lawnmower!
I hope your stay here is an enjoyable one.

Show us some pics of your things.
Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

Show us some pics of your things. Hello freak. I would if I could. I've looked and I've tried getting pictures onto here from GooglePics but no luck so far. I can change a spark plug. I have trouble with technology. Could someone enlighten me about pictures? I've looked through the site problems/suggestions but saw nothing there. I used the 'upload directly' button and pasted the link from GooglePics, but when I look at the Preview Post, there's no picture. I tried the 'enter an image' button and chose non floating and pasted the link but when I do a post preview there's no image. Cheers Scott

I live a 24 Hour lifestyle, but every now and again I seem to fall asleep, well at least that's what my wife tells me.

I had similar problems in the beginning. The fifth icon along at the top of the reply panel (the one with blue arrow pointing up) lets you up load a picture from anywhere in your computer. You have to just highlight the picture file you want and then add it to a list. When you are done with all the pictures you want to post, you just hit the "done" button and they should then appear in the order you uploaded them from your machine.
