Hi John,
All is looking fantastic, especially that catcher. You should get an Oscar for that performance.
As far as the sole plate and bed knife are concerned I gather you still intend to drop it off with Steve at some stage ? I'll have to say the knife is absolutely shickered and will require a new blade fitted. Don't attempt to remove it yourself as Steve will do that for you in the process.
Cheers, BB.

Thanks, BB.
I have to confess that I'm hopeless at most things, I just have a few talented friends.
I'm concerned that the drive gears are in similar condition to the bed knife and was wondering if anyone has experience in obtaining gears through such people as Renolds here in Adelaide?
I hope to take plate and knife over to Pooraka this week but work is overloaded at the moment. I'll post as soon as I get that job completed.
Meanwhile, in an attempt to be extremely careful with everything, I've misplaced the gear stick holder that bolts to the handle. Placed it somewhere to get brazed as it was broken and now the Bl%/?*y fairies have been in and taken it. Wasted a whole day yesterday looking for one small brass piece. Sheds a lot tidier though.
John

Hi John,
If you've got a flogged set of drive gears on a Supercut then you deserve a second Oscar as to date they are considered bullet proof.
When you go to see Steve don't forget to drop my name and thus he'll give you a good price as I've asked him if you've been as yet and he's told me no.
Cheers, BB.

Hi John,
They are fine. If you had teeth knocked off and so on then I'd say you'd have a problem but there is nothing more than normal wear on that drive system and it will go for many more years.
Cheers, BB.

Thanks BB I had them safely in the ute, ready to inquire about new ones tomorrow, so I shall take them back to the workshop. The other good news is that I have found the gear stick holder - amazing what a little cursing can achieve.

Oh no I can hear all the animal lovers squealing already. All that can be said, is FUCM - humourless cretins that they be. For a little non-traumatising [at least physically] entertainment, run a search for 'Craig Turner' on YouTube. His 'cat deterrent system' vid is hilarious, even to most cat +ve persons!

Just as a 'fun' aside thing on the chain sprockets. I approached a bearing & gear firm this week re help in information on getting new or replacement sprockets & matching chain. "Sure" they said. "We can get those made as there is nothing available on the market" "How much?" I inquired. "$500 for the small one and a little less for the larger - plus the chain" I think that I shall go with your advice,BB, & stick with what I've got Meanwhile, the green paint will be in on store tomorrow, matched to the original colour inside the engine cover Happy Aust. day John

Almost ready to commence the rebuild of the Supercut. I have matched the paint colour from that which was under the engine cover and I believe that it's pretty close. Straight colour and not Hammertone, I suppose this was the go for these models as I cant imagine that this particular machine has ever undergone prior restoration. I have to confess that the shade didn't do anything for me at first but it's growing on me. All back together and completed with the stickers, it should look better. certainly it will be better than it was when I retrieved it from the chook shed. The side chain cover still has work to be done as far as polishing and removal of deep scratches. I doubt that all of these will be gone as some are simply too deep. The gear stick holder had to be rebuilt and a couple of rods have yet to be turned down and threaded. Engine has been tested as ok and most other small bits and pieces are completed & ready. Now its just a matter of time and referring to the photos to jog my memory John ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2017/02/full-10876-33016-img_2566.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2017/02/full-10876-33018-img_2567.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2017/02/full-10876-33022-img_2569.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2017/02/full-10876-33023-img_2571.jpg)
