Hi All,
I'm about to embark on a restoration project on a Scott bonnar, I picked one up today but not entirely sure it's a Scott bonnar 45, most of the Scotty 45's I've seen have
only 2 roller rear drum halves however this one has 2 halves and a centre roller piece so in total it looks like 3 drums at the rear. I've attached a photo of the ID plate.
Any info on this Model would be appreciated

Hi Ozziesim, and a warm welcome to the forum. It's always nice to welcome another Scott Bonnar Model 45 owner on board. grin

Your machine is a 20" Model 45 (hence the need for the 3rd rear roller)..(ie.) a 3" spacer, and the big brother of the 17" Scotty you are used to seeing. wink

I can tell from the pic that yours is an early solid deck model...(more collectable) and would have been manufactured in Thebarton, South Australia at the Scott Bonnar factory. It may also have an 8 blade reel as standard, whereas the 17" machine has a 6 blade reel as standard. grin
Once again Ozziesim, :welcome: to OutdoorKing.

Hi All,

I know this thread is as old as the hills but just an update from viewing the photos and that is the the engine and clutch assembly are not original.

This particular 20 inch model 45 was originally fitted with a 3 HP Kirby Lauson engine and a cast iron clutch half, this machine has a Briggs & Stratton power plant fitted along with a later issued diecast clutch half.

Cheers,
BB.
