Thank you again. I had just about given up on replacing the hand-brake mechanism. despite carefully putting items together when deconstructing the mower I find all sorts of assorted pieces have rearranged themselves into random containers wile my back is turned. These pics give me a good clue how to put the brake back together. Still confused, of course, as my park brake is a drum brake on the rear axel adjacent to the rear tyre. Anyway thanks for your continued interest and ill forge on. Grass keeps growing!!

Marty, I found that even with new brake shoes and very careful adjustment the brake was still pretty useless

Once again thanks for the help that you have given, as a result the beast is now together and operational. However! I did end up with a few spare parts! I wonder if anyone recognises any of these bits? I have a few final adjustments to get the cutter clutch working properly, and to stop the steering from turning so far a wheel jams at right angles. I would appreciate any tips from anyone who has dealt with such issues. Some pictures of the machine and the left over parts. Ta's x many thousands. Marty, it is due to the primitive steering arangement, you should have an adjustable bolt on the tierod that ties the 2 wheels together that hits up against the wheel to stop it going too far. My mates does the same thing and it drives him nuts but I have to work out what to do with his because it doesn't have the adjuster. He has to get off and pull the wheels back to straighten them up. I was just thinking, if you reverse, does that free the wheels up?

I found this thread https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/u...field_12-30_spare_parts?_.html#Post74056I don't know if the guy still frequents the site, but it could be worth sending him a PM to see if he had any success. ps: is that a parts manual underneath the spare bits, if so can you take a pic and post it, as it may help others identify them. Regards Buckets

Thanks for getting back to me. The steering mechanism has two adjusting screws which are designed (I think) to stop the steering going too far, but the don't actually hit anything, maybe I am missing a bit? I take a pic and see if you recognise anything untoward. Yes that is a parts manual under the left over bits, but I cannot find the bits in any of the Greenfield manuals! Thanks again Martin

Hi Marty, I was in at my mower place yesterday and managed to get a copy of the Anniversary 12-32 off the guys. This pic shows the chassis parts and no:54 (bottom left & right) shows two of your left over bits, they are called stiffeners. The guys at the shop tried to explain where they go, but it was difficult to visulise not knowing that model, but it is either under the seat or if you remove the rear cover it attaches to the chassis some where in that area. Pretty vague I know . They couldn't identify the other parts unfortunately, and I couldn't find any of them in the parts manual. Re the steering, yes please post a pic of the adjusting screw setup. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2016/11/full-8388-31113-test.jpg)

Marty, that is a beautiful bonnet you have there, they are usually all crunched up on the front edge

Perhaps she goes faster backwards. I am quite tall so the seat is far back making strong pressure on the forward gear a challenge. Still cannot understand why the pictures have inverted. Odd.

Marty, the adjuster screws should be able to be adjusted out nough to prevent the front wheels from going too far, turn the wheel in the direction that it is locking on and you should be able to see what I mean, you may even need a longer bolt. As for the heel and toe operation, you can adjust the rod up the front and this will change the position of your foot, bit difficult to get at or see as it is up inside the chasis rail, once you get the split pin out you can screw the rod in or out according to what you want

Morning Folks,
Umm, is the steering tie rod/bar upside down? From the photos those stop bolts will never make contact. Or am I missing something
And I guess if it needs to be flipped the other way up it will also need to be flipped left to right?

Must be a case of not checking my sources. I thought I had copied the bar placement from a picture. I did think about it at the time but had an inkling that the stop missed either way up. I shall forthwith reverse/invert it. Perhaps on a cooler day
