I think that there is some obvious confusion here on your behalf. This has nothing to do with the governor at all.

What member Joeyvek requires is the spring that hooks through the strap that's bolted down to the top section of the engine air cowl, this tensions the accelerator cable. This is in fact a Scott Bonnar part and not a Briggs & Stratton issued item due to the style of throttle control used by Scott Bonnar Ltd.





Honestly you could get a similar spring and a piece of metal which you'd have to drill two holes through from "Bunnings" that would replace the lost items.

Bb you are spot on with the parts I need. I am going to Bunnings tonight to get a spring and bit of metal plate. Freebird no need to apologise it's a busy time of year for us all. thank you so much for your help, I managed to keep the governor spring. And thank you for your offer. And if it is ok I would still like to take you up on the offer if that is ok. As I don't know if my governor spring is damaged.

Hi all

It's been awhile since I've updated my thread. My SB 45 has been getting a great workout over summer. I have a couch lawn, my guess it's something close to legends couch as it has a fairly large leaf. I say this as the fairways at my golf club have legends couch on fairways and Santa ana couch tees.

At the beginning of summer i covered the yard in sand to get a smooth surface and let the grass grow through it. Here is how it looked after sanding




A couple of weeks later

And here it is now. I have the height of the SB45 set around 1cm.

You reap what you sow I guess, or in other words no pain no gain and gain you have most certainly have.

Looks superb. The trick is not to use cheap fertilisers that will thatch it up quickly and next minute you know it's up to 25 to 30 mm and you're back to square one.
