rebuild is progressing slowly, but I do need the chain as current one is past it's use by date and to buy one local it could cost anywhere from $70.00 up to over $200. just for the chain,
problem is I would have to buy a box with 10 ft of chain which I don't need only need about 3 or 4 foot ,and they don't cut the chains to size anymore.
type of chain is 41A1 chain

From memory I replaced both chains on my 5XL Greenfield for $16. What is the centers of the pins and what is the width of the outer side plates of the chain

I got one from outdoor king online it's a new
number 41 chain 78 pins and is exact size for colt 5 & 8
did save a bit of money over buying local at least it's the correct chain for the mower .

You can still get chain cut to size but you need to go to an engineering supplies company rather than a mower shop. I just got chain for my Falcon ride on prject from Taft in Bundaberg.

I'm with you there Trev. I'd head to an industrial supplies or the local bearing bloke. Same place I get my belts from. They should be able to supply replacement gears to suit the chain if needed too.

I did go to a local bearing /belt supplier and they are not allowed to cut the chains anymore they can only sell by the box ,he phoned the other 3 suppliers in town and got the same reply.
