Hmmm that'll take some filler wire!
Maybe they used grease because the oil kept leaking out!
Can you McGyver a homeless ride on rear end into it? More economical than a pair of new housings.

Much appreciated Gadge I'll give Terry a ring tomorrow. I doubt the transaxle housing would be all I would need, I'm tipping there would be more busted bits inside

That's amazing.
I'm glad - they are such a great but underrated Aussie machine.

So the enthusiasts must Sprechen Sie Deutscher?

Cheers

I am getting a pair of transmission cases from Terry, $80 the pair, and he is bringing them down to Farmworld 2016 at Warragul next week. Also giving me a free pass to get in, couldn't get much better than that

Jack I believe the Duetscher is the Lanz Bulldog of ride on mowers. I remember when I was a kid a neighbour bought one new, such a bizare machine back then, particularly when the new Massey Fergusons were coming on the market. The Lanz was probably 20 years behind

I've got two gearboxes sitting around. There each slightly different. Bought them a couple years ago at a swap meet in geelong for $50. I'm willing to sell them. I'll post photos of them tomorrow.

The photo in the previous reply is one of the two gearboxes. I assume that they are from a deutscher ride on. There are no markings on the housings and one has a slightly different axel but I suspect the gearboxes are still the same. i'll get some better photos. I've got no use for them as I am downsizing due to lack of space. If you want them we need to work out a price and and how to get them to you. I live in Geelong. I don't know if Terry is getting you the housing only or the complete box including gears.

At a quick count, I have 3 h26s , a G26, and about 3 other older models in different state of disrepair. And other bits and pieces.

At this stage all I need is the housings that Terry is supplying but who knows what the future holds so it always pays to have spares on hand. No problems for me to slip down to Geelong and pick them up at anytime that suits you. The one in the pic looks to be correct. I'm happy to help you with the ones in disrepair if you would like,I don't have any grass to cut but a man has to have reason to get out of bed every day. laugh

Moving forward slowly on this and I have now realized that I am missing the levers that operate the clutch, brake and the gear lever. There is a missing plate on the side of the housing that I assume is where they were mounted. I see no difficulty in making these bits up to make them all work but I would like it to sort of operate as per the original. If anybody has any photos or diagrams as to how it all works it would be much appreciated otherwise it is just going to be a version according to Norm

Are you watching that 360 in Hoddle's Creek on FleaBay just now? Still under $200 with two and a bit days to go...

Given up on that one Gadge, be interesting to see how high it goes, at $320 now. Anyway I have been able to come up with ways to make up all the bits needed to get everything to operate. I wanted the clutch lever on the left side, so you can disengage the drive belt when you push the start solonoid on the right side. I also wanted the brake lever on the right and also the gearshift. No idea how the original was setup but to me this is how it should, makes everything simple 2 handed operations
