hi everyone
i've just got a corvette with windup start the mower is in great body shape but when started it won't rev and is smokey .
i cleaned the carby and re installed but it made no difference it still seemed bogged down so while running i removed air filter no difference so i took snorkel of carbie and the motor picked up and ran fine except for fuel spraying out off the air intake side of carby i'm stumped as to what the problem is so any advice would be much appreciated
thanks Gummy
PS the carby is an all metal flag carby

sounds like the exhaust is blocked, 2st's need to be decarboned every so often, try that first,
with the g3 carbs, they need to be set up right to work, so the next thing to check is the
condition of the gears and then the set up. any of the Victa workshop manuals will show you how.

There's a workshop manual excerpt free download which covers the G2 and G3 carbies HERE in Section 4.

If your carby has a plastic governor vane, it's a G3; if the all metal one, it's the much rarer G2.

Check the snorkel for obstructions too; it should run the same with snorkel but no filter, as with snorkel disconnected.

Cheers,
Gadge

Good outcome.

If you intend to use this mower regularly, it might not be a bad idea to buy a spare set of the nylon gears that operate the throttle shaft.
These have been discontinued, but the ODK Shop still has some stock. These fit both G2 and G3 carbies.

Cheers,
Gadge
