Hi, I am new to the forums.

I just purchased a Greenfield 11 and doing some work on it.
I will probably be asking a lot of questions.
Please share your experience.

Good morning lachlane, and welcome to the ODK Forums.
From my short experience, when looking for parts and information on your machine, I have found the following information (if available) is a must to help provide or find answers to questions:-

1. Manufacturer information obtained from the machine label to assist in searching details as there are multiple models in each range, and some mowers are built by other Manufacturers and re-labelled. These labels can be located in various places on a machine. You may find the label on the rear plate, under the seat, on the frame below the motor, or hidden in other places.

As an example, the Victa 3012TX I have was built by Murray (as shown in this picture) and the label is on the rear plate of the body, below the drivers seat:-



2. Engine Numbers are also important. For example, if it's a Briggs and Stratton motor, having the Model, Type & Code helps to identify the specific engine series when looking for Parts and Diagrams.

A 13.5hp Tecumseh Engine I have has the engine label on the side of the motor


And a 16hp Briggs and Stratton I have has it's engine numbers on the cowling. These are sometimes located on the OHV cover


If you need to service, or work on the Transmission, then having the actual transmission Manufacturers information will also help.

I find uploading Photos of these benefits in identification of machines and, if you have issues with a particular item, may aid in seeing what issues are being investigated.

Thank you for your quick response.
If the engine is a Briggs and Stratton, you can use this link below to get specific information on your motor. It requires a 6-digit Model number and the first 4-digits of the Type number.

Some of the older Briggs and Stratton engines only had a 5-digit number and, in this situation, you just add a "0" (Zero) in front of the model number to make it up to 6 characters.

Once you do a search, you may get several results for the engine Model & Type input. If this is the case, just look for the number that matches your machine. For example, on the B&S above, I would look for 280777-0675-E1, and then you have your manual choices of Parts Lists and Owners/Operators Manual.

It seems the easiest way to help ID a Greenfield, is to prove photos. :-)

The mower itself will have no significant identifying data on it from greenfield except for the serial number, which will be on to of the "U" channel that the front axle beam is nested in. It's a 4 digit number, possibly followed by a letter. It doesn't mean much as the tractor series didn't change much during its production (late 70's to mid 80's ?).

I think there is an IPC on this site if you subscribe. They didn't produce a maintenance manual.

I have downloaded the engine manuals from Briggs and Stratton.

Unable to upload pictures at the moment. I took photos of anything that looked like it could ID the mower.

Found the 4 digit code stamped on the front

On one of the large drive pulleys
GT401 A

A label on the side panel was very faded and most had peeled off.

Part numbers are
Drive belt GT371
Cutter belt GT37?
2? ' Blades ?
?" Blades ?

This sounds like an Anniversary model, drive chain on the left hand side? I think the model before had the chain on the right, they are all very similar but different. Does the bonnet have a white section on the front? Are the rear wheels held on by a single nut or 3? This is not conclusive because bits get swapped around but it might give us an idea.There is something different with the deck adjuster as well from memory. The steering setup on the Anniversary is different as well. Pics always help

Good morning all.
Now we know it is a Briggs and Stratton on the mower, if it has the original engine, then the Engine Code will provide you with an estimated Year of Manufacture for the machine.
In my photo above, the engine Code is 970813ZE. The first 6-digits give you the date the engine was built in YYMMDD order, and the ZE is the factory where it was built.
In my case, the engine on my mower was built on the 13th August 1997, which gives me an estimated year of the machine as 1997-1998.
This may help narrow down the machine and make it easier to work with.
Overall, you should now have a good idea of its basic information.
When it comes to further questions, you should now be able to Post a new thread in the relative section of the Forum that is concerning the issue you have with your Ride-on Mower.

The drive chain is on the right hand side.

Mini Tractor I think?. Looks like Anniversary rear axle(single nut?) I guess there can be just flipped over so the sprocket is on the other side. Anniversary has the battery under the seat and a handbrake fitted on the right hand side.The steering is also different. All very confusing, worse than trying to identify the various toe cutter Victas.

Looking at the engine information, the motor was built on 24th October 1983 so, based on this, it could indicate your Greenfield was possibly built around 1983-1984.
Now you have photos, I'm sure members can help with further information, like as Norm has indicated above.

This one is designated a 'Tractor 11', Model No. 11 VE. These were made from the late 1970's to middish 80's as best we can work out. 1983 would be the original engine; as Bushy says, the machine was likely built in 1983 or 84.

There is an Illustrated Parts List download available in the Greenfield Manuals area, which is a pay access section of ODK.

The second file down, described as 'Tractor 5 to 11 version', is the one you need.


New parts availability from Greenfield will be limited at best for this one, as it's now outside their 25 year spares supply window.
Parts common to later models, such as blades, will be no problem. Bearings and drive belts are standard industrial types, and easy to source once you have the type number from the old ones.

Hi, I'm new to the forums, we have a old Greenfield Tractor 11-30 MkII, that I'm try to get running, was hoping to get some help and manual info. So far looks like I'm in the right place.

We need pictures to verify what it is and also what are you trying to get running, the motor? the drive? the cutter deck?

Identifying the Make and Model of the machine, as you have, is also a step in the right direction.
