Hi Sean

That's a shame, but easily remedied.

Any clutch adjustment on the central fork bolt and screw should ensure
that, in the lever upright (engaged) position, there is clearance
for the thrust pad to run free of the clutch cone.

However, I might add, clutch pad burnouts may also occur due to a
sticking cone to its clutch housing. Check this by pressing both thumbs
against the cone to see that it will separate from the outer housing.

Second, this assembly looks dry-as. Light oil is recommended in the
area; on the thrust pad and engaging fork.

Third, I hope the missing clutch screw and bolt did not contribute
to this. It must be replaced.

New thrust pads are here:

Hope this helps.

Hi Sean

The clutch pad seems to have life in it,
but adjustment and light oiling of the shaft are critical.
A rub with emery tape around the cone should clean it up.

Also make sure you lubricate the thrust bearing (in the clutch hub)
with some light oil, before re-assembly.

The first design pad was bronze, with an added fibre washer.
The later plastic ones are good, but will collapse with excessive
heat, brought about by incorrect adjustment, or a sticking cone,
or wearing ... mowwear cool

Hope this helps.
