Hello Geoff The Powermow was built in Adelaide. It is a copy of the original British Horwool Triplex. Later they were sold in Britain as the National (Allen) brand. Hope this helps. ----------------------------- JACK ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2015/09/full-7392-23985-2014_11_ebayuk_horwool_small.jpg) I actually used one quite a bit as a teenager:- ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2015/09/full-7392-23984-horwool_mower_02.jpg)

Hello Geoff Thank you for those numerous kind words of appreciation. I was hoping you would tell me. I suspect it was this company, started by Neville Thomas: http://powermowers.com.au/pages/about-usHope this helps. --------------------------- JACK

Hi Geoff
Thank you for that. Perhaps detail photos. My understanding is that some automotive components were used in these machines: steering box, hydraulic brake, gearbox. Anything for the record. [p.s. even the steering wheel had an automotive origin]
Cheers and thanks. ---------------------------- JACK

I seem to have answered my own question. Power Mower Service was first operated from Neville Thomas's home in the Adelaide Hills, in 1966. Service and Maufacturing moved to Eastwood (date unknown). Power Mower Manufacturing Co moved to Monarto (date unknown) The Power Mo Triplex was made here. Both sites were still in use in 1985. I will keep looking.

That adds a few more pieces to the puzzle. I couldn't remember the name of the company - pretty obvious isn't it. I have met Neville Thomas - in the early 1980s I think.

Some more info. The Powermow Triplex 84 was made from c1980 to c1995. A few hundred were made. They were made in Monarto, that factory closing a few years ago. The engine, gearbox and steering box were purchased from O/S, most of the rest SA made. Power Mowers till make shredders, slashers, turfcutters etc at Mount Barker.

Very nice indeed. These were great mowers with quality steering. I think this is a later model - because there is a small disk brake on the transmission output shaft - a handbrake.
Thanks for the information. --------------------------------- JACK

Hello Geoff N
Incredible! I've never found a Horwool brochure, and the AUS Powermow is a pretty close copy of the English Machine.
I wonder whether Horwool were behind the Tow Tractor design as well. There are similarities ...
Cheers & thanks. --------------------------------- JACK
