I called into the local tip shop the other day found this mower and felt sorry for it. It was so covered in oil and dirt I thought it needed better so paid $10.00 and brought it home. After a pressure wash, carbi clean, points reset and a new plug it runs like a dream.
I now would like to know how old it is and who were U.B.A that victa made them for. The number on the crank case is 50731 2563 and the vista code for spares is V148 but I can find no trace on the net. Thanks

exfarmer,

The V148 code is for a 1973-1974 model Store Brand Mayfair 160cc model. Hope that helps. cheers2

Hello exfarmer and Bruce,

Yes a 73 engine mounted on a 73/74 Store Brand Model.
I wouldn't say these were overly common now.

Here is the same lawnmower - V148 - used for another store:-

I wonder which is better?
Would it be the 'Super Power' or the 'De Luxe Super Power' grin

Well the de-lux has a better paint job and less rust.
Dose any body know who U.B.A. Ltd was that Victa made them for (as on the front)

The corsair is identical to the first mower I ever owned, long gone in one of the many 100's of machines I recently sent to the scrapyard. It did earn me some good coin mowing lawns during high school!

After a good clean, rust treatment and some paint it looks better now and reflects its condition.

Hello exfarmer!

That's a nice, sensitive restoration of the Corsair.
It represents how this 'Mayfair' chassis became a Monaro, and a Corsair, and a ...
I'd still like to know who U.B.A. were...

Thank you for updating us on this mower.

The fact that it says UBA Ltd means it had to be a public listed company since private companies must use Pty. Ltd. Having said that, there is a company UBA Pty Ltd that trades under the name Lawnline but their listing on ASIC doesn't go that far back so perhaps it changed hands at some stage.
