Hi All, How do I find the model of carburetor on this mower. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2015/04/full-7394-21117-dpp9222.jpg) It says Tecumseh and 45 on the bottom of the fuel bowl and looks a lot like this one on ebay http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Value-CA...DefaultDomain_15&hash=item43c9c25eafexcept the one fitted has a solid brass screw in the bottom, not the adjustable jet(?) style. Is it stamped on the carby somewhere? Thanks in advance for any help

Hi Aussietrev, yes, that carby will fit but may have minor internal differences. Try "Partstree.com" to help identify and give you an exact part number for your carby.

Maybe this will help for the numbers. Tecumseh carburetors will have a manufacturing number stamped on the mounting flange or the body followed by a date code. The mfg. no. on recent models is four digits and is followed by three characters for year, month and day of manufacture; older carbs may only have 2 or 3 digits. These number can be cross to service carburetor part number. ![[Linked Image from i1329.photobucket.com]](http://i1329.photobucket.com/albums/w548/ke4avb/TEC%20CARB%20ID%20LOCATE_zpsymopmrei.png)

Thanks guys. The carby has 9009 C4D engraved on the mounting flange but I can't make head nor tails of that partstree site. Those numbers return a zero results in their search engine and trying to figure out which carby it is without knowing the engine designation seems impossible. There are no marking of any sort on the engine itself and the possible identifying sticker on the cowl has long ago bleached white. So if I grabbed that cheapie carby off ebay, it will probably be okay? The existing carby has no adjustments anywhere for mixture and the jet in the bottom of the bowl has 170 stamped into it.

I cant really add to the discussion but I love the wording in the add:
This CARBURETOR effectively control fuel comsuption, make your car keep a good condition.
Package including: 1X carburetor
2x screws
3x mount gasket
I'd imagine it should work though.

Yep, I thought that was classic too Pete. I just wonder how many mpg you'd get out of a car fitted with a mower carby, if you could get it to move at all that is.

Just an update, the cheapie carby arrived from the Philippines, came with all new gaskets and even an adapter for different style air cleaners. Bolted it on, hit the primer a couple of times and zoom, runs like a bought one. Carby including post cost not much more than a can of carby cleaner! Question I have now though is, can someone tell me the cc's of the Tecumseh engine?
