I ma looking for either a manual or other assistance so I replace the Engine Cork Clutch on my Scott Bonner 45.

I have no idea where to start1

Thanks for your response.
I am however confused.
When I took the outside casing covering the gear area I found cork at the bottom of the casing.
It appears however from where you have directed me that the cork is in the middle of the drive shaft that controls the spinning blades. So how it got into the casing is a mystery!
So now I am totally confused as the blades are spinning fine.
When however I try and engage the self propelling drive by squeezing the handle I initially had some drive but very little.
I then discovered the bolt that adjusts the leaver for the handle.
When I initially adjusted it the machine took of like a rocket then stopped half way through mowing.
Are you saying that all the transfer happens in that centre gearing area and that it is not just the engagement of the cutting blades?

My Scott Bonner has a brass identification plate marked Mower Number 45 11361
Does that identify when the mower was made I would be interested to understand that information?
Any ideas how I can discover that?

Ron, we don't know of any way to date the mower from its serial number. Our SB guru, Deejay, believes that the numbers were not orderly and no records of numbers have survived. If your mower has a Briggs engine and it is the original one, give us the Model, Type and Code numbers (stamped on the cooling air cowl) and we can tell you when the engine was manufactured. The mower will have been made several months later.
