Hi, folks, I have a question about the CH86139A plastic wheel bearings used on many models some time back. Usually bearings with plastic ball races are not lubricated, but around the bearings on a set of wheels I have just dismantled there appears to be the remains of lubricant, probably grease, well mixed with dust. Were these plastic bearings originally lubricated at OEM level? If so, with what type of lubricant? Any advice will be appreciated. Mike.

Thanks for the suggestion, tomo4192. Looks more like dried up grease on these bearings, not graphite. Grease on plastic bearings doesn't make sense, but in this case there may be a reason for it that I don't understand. Could be something to do with the type of plastic used.

Mike.

I generally smear a bit of grase on the axles before I sell the mowers just incase the new owner keeps the machine outside, it will aid to keep the wheels from siezing due to rust on the axle. It does no harm and adds a little protection.
