Well the new belts have been fitted and I gave the mower a quick test run this morning. All went well and the only issue I have is how quick it moves. I've been a bit concerned about how the father in law would cope because the machine is heavier than expected and now it is a too quick - He is in his 70's. Figuring this might happen I picked up a Scott Bonnar Diplomat 590 for $50 yesterday. Also gave it a test run this morning. Has the expected drive problem which I knew but it cuts fine and the weight and control will be much better for him. I will start a new thread on the rebuild

If you just fit a 1/2" smaller pulley to the crankshaft, you'll slow down the forward movement without changing the cut quality (no change in ratio of cutter movement to forward movement). Depending on how much adjustment is available you may not even need a new V belt.
Of course you can still have fun with the Diplomat as well, no harm in having two mowers.

Was thinking it through as I mowed the front lawn ( with my rotary) after the test run out the back and figured a ratio change with the pulleys or sprockets was the answer. Went to load pic but it was too large and I cant resize on the phone. The small pulley for the drive belt is already pretty small and the guard on the larger pulley doesn't have the room to fit a bigger one. More thinking, measuring and calculating required to find the right ratio.

Hi Diablo,This is just a gentle heads-up mate, but this thread has wandered completely off topic which is: flywheel removal HK30....Can you please start a new thread for the Alroh pulley drive ratios HERE Thanks mate. I will now close this thread. If any member has anything to add, please PM a moderator.
Please do not PM me asking for support. Please post your questions in the appropriate forums, as the replies it may receive may help all members, not just the individual member. Kindest Regards, Darryl
