Hi all, is this muffler original, I'm sure I seen this before it also has a white petrol tank and white fuel tap. Made for chandlers I think. Model no,83 7201131. [Linked Image]

Hey ! Im thinking that that muffler is somewhat older than that mower that style would normally be found on early 60's corvettes and things .
i think the fish tail style torpedo would be more likely original, although plastic tank cowls used to have through base mufflers.

Ok she's a bitza mate, when I get some time I'm going to see how well the silencer works, I think older 2 strokes have got a sound of their own , so it will be interesting if it makes a difference. Thanks Tomo4192.

1972 Series 70MKII engine, on a low arc stencil base, most likely a storebrand mower.

Not all that much of a Bitsa, although the muffler is definatly older. G3 carby fits the timeleine, and the cowling and base combination seems fine, and fits with the engine date... Now...let's have a look at the books...

Cheers
Ty

OK, looking at the books, I'm thinking it's the 1972-1973 Storebrand Premier, The pic looks like a 160cc engine to me.

The Muffler looks like a 1963-64 Corvette muffler, as for which muffler would have been original, I'm guessing Box Type, and the books agree, but the definitive answer would be found looking under the current muffler for a rectangular hole in the base for the box muffler exhaust to go down to the blades.

Hmmm... what's that ones serial? it might be 1968-1970, or the carby could be a mismatch...

defiantly a miss match Ty , it appears to be a 160CC with a 3L carby no decompressor hump in cowl in photo 2.

There is still a chance it is original, the very late 60's saw the 160cc engine with the 3S carby, which was the same as the 3l with different jetting.

Yes this is true although I've never seen any. also you can see a kill swich wire
hanging off next to the carb would suggest not original or an engine swap ?

You are indeed right... infact a G4 kill wire... Maybe we need to look more towards 74 onwards for this one...
