We have a Ryobi trimmer model no. 975R. We can't get it to start. When we pull the pulley, it sounds like it isn't engaging the engine.
Last week, I took it to a lawn equipment repair shop and paid $50 to have it repaired. Even the mechanic couldn't get it to start! The mechanic and the cashier told me that about 10 of this model have been in the shop during the last month, all with the same problem. He said that this model is a piece of junk because it has a four cycle motor and lots of mechanical defects. He told me to have a yard sale and try to recoop some of the money we lost on buying a Ryobi. He suggested that I buy a Weedeater Featherlite to replace it.
Does anyone know if Ryobi has recalled this model? I am upset because I wasted so much money on this worthless piece of junk.

Debra & Roy, I would suggest that you contact Ryobi direct as I am sure that they will help you with your problem. It appears to me that the people in the shop are not trained properly in repairing equipment and also do not sell the Ryobi brand.
