Hi everyone,

I have recently volunteered at a local machinery museum western australia, and we had a chap drop off/donate the pictured edger. Powered by a 2hp briggs and straton. We are all scratching our heads thinking if its pre 65 or post 65 in age?

Thats an alroh edger, to determine an approximate date of manufactire we would need the "model type and code" from the cowling of the engine.

At a guess it's post 65, (decal styling, color etc) but as Joe said, the only way to tell for sure is off the numbers stamped in the cowl.

The early 'easy spin' decals had NEW written in the centre above the white diamond and I've read somewhere that it was removed around 64. It's not present on this one.

It's extremely similar to Joe's 1963 engine in a 1964 Alroh Imp, with what appears to be the same engine. See this thread:

https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/u...amp;Main=4393&Number=15550#Post15550

Joe's engine is a Briggs 60102 made in April 1963. That seems to have been when the Imp was in its very early production phase, so there may have been changes from one edger to another. The one in this thread looks as if the edger frame may have been painted silver to match the engine, before they started painting them Alroh's hammertone green. If so it may have an even lower serial number than Joe's.

If you look at the edger's serial number, you may find it contains the last two digits of the year it was manufactured - see the other thread.

Please post the Model, Type and Code, which are stamped on the vertical surface of the engine's cooling air cowl, near the intake port. If you also post the edger's full serial number, we should be able to put it into context with Joe's similar edger.

I actually have two of them, one is older than the other, I am not sure of the year on the newer one and they are both currently stored deep in the shed.
