Hi guys,

The muffler of my victa powertorque (Mastercut460) was pierced so I replaced. The one I bought does not contain anything inside while the original was filled with material like a metal sponge. I think it serves to limit the noise. So I copied this matter and I put in the new muffler. Someone has already seen such material in the muffler of his victa?

In addition are there any victa power torque Mastercut 460 in Australia because I do not see any post on this lawn mower in the forum?

Regards,
cool

Hi pilatus, and a warm welcome to the forum. I great to have you aboard.
On doing some research for you, I have found that the Mastercut series of mowers is in the Victa 'Professional' range and as such, may not appear on the forum which seems to have more of the domestic types posted.
They are quite expensive in comparison and not liked by some as you will see HERE.
Victa seem to have dropped the 'Power-Torque' engine from the range also, being replaced by a Victa 4 stroke engine, as well as a Honda for the 460.
Hoping this helps,
cheers2

Thanks Darryl I thought that model sounded farmilar as I had one when I was still in Canberra. I never got a chance to see if it ran. I really should have kept it but I guess that's the way it goes.

Here for a good time, not a long time.

They are pretty common, generalyl sold as a utility rather than "master cut or some such, same thing different spin on advertising.

Is the new muffler genuine? chances are there is packing in there but its well pressed in out of sight.

Ive found mostly on product review sites, the ones giving one or two stars are yuppies, having a whinge that either do not follow the instructions, or peed off because they had to get warranty work done. Either way victas quality has slipped down and down over the last decade but I have older variants of the "master cut 460" that are 20+ years old and still run like a clock.

Thank you guys for all the reply and sorry for my poor english and for my late reply.
We can still find victa powertorque (mastercut 460 series) in our shops in New Caledonia. You are right, this mower is quite expensive, mainly in New Caledonia. The last one, I bought, 2 weeks ago cost me about 650AUD$. But I really like that mower because of the simplicity of the engine and because of the Cast Alloy of the chassis (no rust issue). I've got today 2 victa at home, one completly new and the other is about 6 years old. I'm trying to make a new life to the old girl that's the reason why I m' looking for good information on this very interesting forum.
Nobody reply to me about the material like a metal sponge I 've found in the old muffler ? Is it normal not to find this material in the new one ?
Maybe I will show you this week end a picture of my two mowers.
Regards,

know nothing
most do have a sort of metal type screen inside yes , a good way to clean then out is just ( if in fair condition) throw them in a fire burn out the carbon or just heat and tap out the burned material . if only a hole in it though , depends on if it was rusted or pierced ? weld the hole . they are always noisy , adds to the nice side of 2 strokes
