Thanks for finding the thread Joe and for posting the pic Grumpy.

The original spring had yellow paint on it, so I thought it must have been correct.

Its just that I had never seen the smaller spring before.
Also, the hook part of the wire I have always seen in the plastic vane.

Both arrangements are working ???

And I noticed that with both arrangements, the spring bunches up when set to idle.

It looks as if Briggs made them both ways: long spring with link-loop at vane end, short spring with link-loop at speed control lever end.

I wonder why they'd made two different versions on the same (92908) engine?

Mark, the governor spring on single governor spring engines must be completely contracted at idle, since its job is always to pull the throttle open.

While I was on a roll with this engine I decided to give these automatic carby's some attention.

I found grumpy's thread very useful:
https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=22526

As I have never checked for warping or preloaded the diaphragm. That is why I have 4 sitting here, I have one engine here that runs great, but just would not start with auto choke or Vacujet carby. (I ended up putting a Pulsajet with a fuel primer on it).

So I have serviced them all now, I ended up with 2 good ones and have to get some diaphragms for the other 2.

Hi Mark, thanks for sharing these with us, but this thread has gone 'off topic' and nothing to do with a seized engine with no oil.
Unfortunately someone may want this advice in future and won't be able to find it because it is buried here in a different thread. frown
cheers2
