Today i collected these old girls. A old green scott bonnar an a fairly newish victa in very well worn out condition. Motor is sezied on the victa. An the scott bonnar the guy couldn get to start so first thing i checked was plug n it had like a build up of crap on it so i cleaned it n put it back in added new fuel n fired first pop n runs great its a powerfully little thing. The bonnar has been well looked after. Missing some parts for self drive by looks of it.

Isn't that sad about the Scott Bonnar. It's just a Rover painted a different colour.

Here for a good time, not a long time.

You have the eye for it. An is it ment to be self propelled?

There were some self propelled but you don't see them often. You can tell it is from the back wheels,as they are different. It's just sad that Rover couldn't change it and make it look different.I bet Scott Bonnar himself is rolling over in his grave.

Cause its got that guard on the side to an like a casing around the rear axle. It also what looks like a lever on the side of the engine. Is this one missing linkages?? An there is like no lever or control on the bars for like self propelled lol

I'm not sure how they work either as I have never had one. I'm not into Rovers. I'm into early Scott Bonnar's but didn't like them after Rover bought the company out. They all looked like Rovers after that.

Not sure how the SP works on them either.
Had a few of those 20 inchers here, none of them SP's. Where that cover goes to the non SP mower have a metal cover over a hole about an inch and a half wide and 2 and a bit high. Id say the belt goes in through there.

Im not sure that its the real deal. The holes in the cover on the front, those had a dress cowl on the front, toro mower rings a bell. And the flywheel brake mechanisim on the front is an american made mower thing.
I would say that motor is not what was originally on that base hence why the SP is not working.

Perhaps the SP Rovers were shaft driven and had Honda motors.
Rip the cover off, whats under it???

You could always put a power torque on the vantage base and use the 4 stroke for bits.

Im almost certain they run off a pto drive coming from the side of the engine, I have two setup like this, one is the rover the same as yours, the other is a viking with a 5hp briggs.

I highly doubt the flywheel brake above the muffler is something that rover would have had fitted to a machine of that age.

That bail brake on the flywheel has been disabled from factory, I had one the same with the same precise bit of wire holding it open like that. If the chain has been removed chances are other parts are damaged ot unusable. I do have a set of wheels here with good internal gears if you need those.

That would use simple Pushbike chain as drive chain...

Those mowers were branded "Scotts' here..
