So i am finally biting the bullet and ripping up my turf. It currently consists of some weed, some couch and kikuya. The surface is uneven, and appears to have had years of abuse, with many a car driving over.
I'm thinking a couch, possibly Santa ana, but have also seen a few others around including Windsor green
Any thoughts/recommendations?

Hi Barry, we need to know your location mate....couch is not suitable in all climates.

I freakin hate rhizomatous grasses. Invasive hard work.
I let some clover get going in my back lawn, sorry i did now. But no where near as bad as cooch.

I have pure kikuyu, its the only thing that really survives a 45+ degree beating all summer with minimal water.

Hi Barry, I have Santa Anna, I just love it, its a beautiful grass but does require looking after to keep it looking nice. I'm at the foot of the Blue Mountains in Sydney where we do have some frosts in winter which can brown it up a bit, but with regular fertilising and only moderate watering (Santa Ana is very drought tolerant)it displays rich emerald colour the rest of the year. Its only downside is it won't grow in shade.
Santa ana is a nice choice if you don't have any shady areas.

I am leaning towards Santa Anna, but am still a touch in limbo
I estimate around 6 hours of full sun(until around 2.30 each day)in which my dodgey kikuya goes nuts. Do you think that's enough?...

Hi again Barry, your climate in Adelaide believe it or not is almost identical to Wagga's weather. In fact, we get your weather 1 to 2 days after you!

So, with that in mind, I can tell you that grass types that flourish here are narrow leaf 'Buffalo' and 'Kikuyu'. In fact, my lawn is 'Kike'. It is invasive when not controlled....but in its favour...it is robust, frost tolerant, drought tolerant, and stays green all year. Stripes up well with my Scotty 45.

I am having Village Green Turf in my garden. It requires less water and maintenance . I think this turf will be best for your garden.

I would suggest you to take it very seriously while you are choosing the turf. I would suggest you to take best quality turf that is sun shine reflector and reflects the all heat and we feel comfortable to walk on it easily when the sun is shinning..

The Village Green turf requires less maintenance as compare to other turf. It requires less water and fertilizer. It always stays green. After installing it in my garden I never faced a single problem.
