Im done with the engine its ready to fire up..and yep i will be using this mower to mow with..am just working on the base now its in really good nick should look good with some new paint...[Linked Image]

Not much rings where $20 few odds and ends they where a only a few bucks..I already had the paint so all up to do the hole mower say undder 30 bucks....the real cost is my time but i enjoy doing this type of thing making something out of what someone gave up on a long time ago..

here is a tip for keeping the muffler on...well its how i do it after having a few fall off haha..and also its best to use a new muffler gasket when doing this and it will live on for another 30 years! with any luck.....[Linked Image]

Thanks guys its looking ok i guess...Im getting there with this mower..Here is the base, and nop i did not go with the Victa green paint...I used a charcoal hammertone paint...I really like how it looks..I am going to mow with this mower so was thinking it really dont matter its not 100% as it left Victa.. Well good to see other restoring these VC-160's.Looking good even though not the original colour,but hey that's what you wanted to do.I do have a question though.How did you get the head as clean and as shiny as you did.I'm having a pri*#k of a time getting mine like that?

The head well i cant say there is a easy way to clean them the fins are a bugger, but the combustion chamber is easy i use a Dremel to polish that..I start with a wire brush on a drill and degreaser, and use the wire brush on the hole head not to hard as to mark the head just get the thick oil and gunk off... Mini steel wool the little soap ones i use them with water they work good, and i find heavy duty green scourers work good in the fins and i use them dry no water.. hope that helps...there are two things on a mower i dont like cleaning they are the head and barrel i dont own a bead blaster or anything like that....Cheers

well my VC 160 is looking nothing like it did when i got it ,or how Victa made it haha...but i really like the look of it now its a one off thats for sure...i found better wheels to the ones on it are very crapy...Here are a few pics of where im up to with it.... [Linked Image]

Thanks, i really like the way it has turned out...for about 1 second i was starting to think it's looking too good to mow with haha never!.. It will be put to work on the lawn as Victa made it to do way back when and do it well at that! like any Victa really...Cheers
