Bought a Homelite electric blower/mulcher today at Bunnings. Used it for about an hour as a vacuum/mulcher on gum leaves and the impeller started to self destruct. Eventually it had no more suction and was vibrating horribly. Returned it within two hours of purchase and checked out their entire range. All have plastic impeller. The impeller both creates suction/blow and mulches the debris. The plastic vanes cannot cope with gum nuts or small sticks.

Does anyone know of a model that has a metal impeller? Did they ever exist?

I've got a plastic GMC one thats taken a beating over the years. Blows/vacuums/mulches it was a house warming gift. I didnt think much of it at the time WTF and it doesnt work as well as it once did, but all things considered I'd rate it pretty good.....(had it for about 8yrs) You still need a space suit and respirator on for mulching though, the dust is Hazardous and plentiful....
cheers
