Geez,I'll just put my last threads experience down to bad timing & not get a complex from it! & tweek my question a bit. So ive got this 91/92 commando k/s with engine EN72804Z. Now the key start ,battery, starter & loom have been removed. Therefore Do i still need the ignition module connected (small matchbox size unit, glossy silver riveted to the chassis next to carby). Can I simply snip the brown wire leading to it from the coil? Advice???? *please im nearly losing sight of my daughter out back yard * Cheers

The ignition module must be left connected as with any powertorque as you will be left with no spark otherwise

Ah cheers mate...also at moment it only has that brown wire feeding into it.I see anoother spot for a connector to clip onto, would that have come from the key start wires that have been removed or should it have 1 of the 2 black wires coming from coil connected now? cheers

So theoretically with the keystart etc. removed mine is just a powertorque now?If so, if the brown goes into the module & out again ending at the carby, with 1 of the blacks going directly to the carby allowing the cutoff switch i'm left with 1 black coming off the coil.Would that be earthed to the block then?Or has that been made redundant by removing the keystart side of things? Cheers

I'm not followign that well, victa used a variety of different coloured wires,, if its not the one with the brass barb for the kill switch, insulate it and tuck it out of the way.
Technically they were always a powertorque, I'm not sure why they even made the keystart version apart from a marketing gimmick, even with the lightest of pulls they should fire right up.

always was a powertorque , i know the pic's are blurry but look at tha brown wires . both under the rivet one comes out of the 'case the other to the carb . black one is pushed onto a spade on the module , should have a spade connector , the other goes to carb too. mine have it that way and one has good spark the other runs well . cheers

Hi Bob not sure what you are asking, but I have had to convert about 2 or 3 keys start mowers now and remove the key-start.Manly due to dead battery or dead starter. The wiring for the starter is a separate wiring from the mowers wiring.Once you have removed the electric starters harness then the rest should be left on the mower.Any other wires are there to either run the ignition or the kill switch. It's not the same as a car.So there should be a plug to the starter that runs to the battery and the to the key starter, that should be it.So if you removed that then no more should come off otherwise you could run into some problems.Hope this helps.
Here for a good time, not a long time.
