hi- i have a sears lawn mower i picked from the garbage- i took apart the engine and
there was a broken ring. the sears part
number for the engine is 143.976500. i have
a few questions:

1) does anyone know where i can get the
part number for a ring set for this motor?

2) when reassembling the engine, on the oil pump, does the chamfered side go up or down?

3) when reassembling the engine, do the crank and cam line up exactly on the dots or are they off by one tooth?

If it is a sears craftsman, you can contact sears.com for parts. I have a craftsmans Motor Part # is 143.599022 for a 10 HP Tecumseh Tractor. Also, Tecumseh Products Co., Engine & Transmission Group Service, Grafton, WI. Hope this helps.
