Hi gizmo, you have a great collection, I really like the Victa outboard...we don't get to see many of those on the forum.
The Imperials look to be in good nick...do you use them on your lawn?
Looking forward to seeing more pics as you go along. grin
cheers2

Ok so the Outboard is a Victa. The AA basicly represents late/last of the model 5 series run and/or industrial/various NON mower applications like your outboard. The serial number would usually have just 5 digits following. The 4 is genrally on the lower half of the crankcase but things got stamped anywhere. The prefixes for these later engines can be A AA AAA AC and a couple of others as far as alternate fitments go.Ok so a really quick run down on serial numbers. We will start at the first Victa engine.Model 1 0-8,000 approx
model 2 8,000 to 100,000...model 2a 100,000-110,000...the next few models can intersect/overlap...(The model 3 and 4 were made at the same time)Model 3 125,000-200,000...Model 4 automatic/predicta only 110,000-130,000...model 4 special 130,000 to anyones guess!A little over the 300,000.(Ive not really seen many mowers with a number much over 300,000) most confusion with the model 4 is that only the first 20,000 are of the extremely rare category,Be wary if your buying one of these,if your not sure ASK :)Model 5 forgotton lols....200,000 to 300,000 should be accurate. The model 3 and 5 correct series ones often have the lower crank half stamped with 3 and 5 most other engines can have any other number on the lower crank half depending on where and what state they were manufactured. All numbers after this are as I said previoulsy VERY late runs of the model 5 usually series 2 and 3 and/or marine industrial and other applications. These numbers should be relatively accurate others will fill in any gaps or mistakes Ive made, but this should give you a rough idea of what came of what.As for later engine numbers,I know there are a few members who know these ones accurately. This is as far as I can take you:)...BTW wanna sell me a Sheerline???? Just kiddin! or AM I????? hahhahhaha.

Have been doing a bit of research on Victa outboards, they made a few models, but I haven't found one with the Model 5 engine fitted,,,,Most are from the early to mid 70's. Here's some info:

Also, here is a pic of Alwil's beautiful restoration of his Victa outboard....Click HERE

Gizmo, I have a suspicion that your Model 5 engine may have been retrofitted to an outboard leg of unknown origin at some stage....a interesting addition to your collection though....good score mate! grin

Awesome!.A really nice mower the Sheerlines. And your Outboard is fine,I wont go into the history for now as it requires way to much writing lols, but I have a couple of Images Ill try and find to post for you regarding the earlier Victa/Tiger Outboards. My friend has one also,Ill see if I can get some pics of his for you also. There are also a couple of different leg styles/designs,made by various engineering companys of the time.A common slogan for one company was "mow today go boating tommorrow, not in those words but you could take the motor of your victa and bolt it straight to the leg to go boating:)

Gizmo, there's no chance you would be able to get up a few shot's of the carby on that first outboard, in articular, the throttle slide.

I'm curios as to whether there is a needle on the bottom of the slide.

Cheers
Ty

I was actually hoping to determine if it was the Victa 3D carby, the exterior is identical, however, if you pull the throttle up a bit, and look in the intake, you may see it has a needle out the bottom of the slide.

I'm hoping to work out more about where the 3D was used, so far these outboards are what I'm thinking it was for.

Cheers

Cheers mate, that would be great, the more info I can get on this carby, the closer I am to finishing a Victa Carby guide for the site!

Cheers

No worries mate, That one does look like it may not be an original production one, so I was not holding the highest of hopes, however worth a shot though.

Thanks for checking for me mate!

Cheers
Ty
