A muffler on a 4hp Briggs and Stratton engine snapped so i drilled it out. I got as much of the metal shavings out as possible. After trying to start the mower it seized. i took the head of and saw that there were scratches in the cyclinder wall and metal shavings inside. i was sure i got enough of the metal shavings out but i obviously didn't. I thought that the metal shavings would be blown out via the muffler anyway. what should i do now??? please help
You Probably should have taken the head off and cleaned out the metal shaving's before you attempted to start it. The only thing you could do now is to get the cylinder Re - Bored and a new piston and rings fitted, but this would be very costly. It depends how much money you want to spend on it to get it going again.
