It really depends on the specific model, any chance you have a pic?

Cheers

Most valuable thing of that mower would be the blue catcher.

The rest of it is nothing special.

Well i suppose it would be special if you needed a working mower to mow grass as thats in working order according to the seller.

Personally i wouldnt pay a dollar over $50 for a supposedly serviced mower that did not come with a warranty.

Well to answer your question Pancake. No there not worth anything from a collectors point of view, but as Rodeobob said if you need something to mow a lawn then yes it could be worth a little bit.I wouldn't pay anything more than $50.Well I wouldn't even pay 50 but then I'm not the one who wants it.It may become collectable in a few years but not yet.Hope this helps.

Yeah, I tend to agree, the one pictured is not really anything special, once you get to that era, you tend to find that many collectors are not interested as they focus on machines predating the 70's.

For those collectors who do retain intrest in the 70's, (such as myself) there is few who want much to do with the 'By Victa' mowers, and on top of that, many 70's collectors are more focused on the 1970-1974 period in which Victa used the alloy G3 carburettor.

That mower would be from somwhere 1975-1976 i would guess, at oldest it's a late 74, and with the carby backwards i cant see it being newer than 76.

It's a standard mid 70's Victa Series 70 MKIV engine, with a G4 carby, the set up is pretty low end, and is not really important to any stage in Vict's development.

Myself, I would not buy this one at any price, as a collector I dont want it, and I'm set for mowing the lawn.

Around here, you would also have a little trouble pulling that much for a sale to somone who was after a machine for cutting the grass, I tend to find anything pre-1983 hard to get more than $80 for.

Cheers
Ty

Well firstly thanks for the replies, its great to read peoples thoughts. Not complicated - just clearer, no need for a mower for the lawn as I have one, just like the older type, so its a matter of determining what era. Have always loved the 160cc 2 stroke utility side throw and the VC series. Now thanks to Mr Davis will fous on alloy G3 carb type.

Will advise on what additions I make, looking!

PS Also going to check out a iron horse with catcher on Saturday!

Thanks again....

There is some very interesting mowers in the Iron Horse range Pancake, I'll be curios to see which one it is if you go for it.

If you are looking into the VC range with the G3, you have a few mowers to consider, the first series VC-Mustang, which comes in green, or red and white, the first series of VC-Sports, which has green and white, orange and white, and Purple and Blue. The 3rd VC-125 also fits the bill, looking like a green on green sports.

Then theres the VC-160 based range, all 3 Generations of VC-160 are G3 Carburettor machines, as are the first 2 VC-125's, and the first 2 VC-160 auto drives.

For the side throw, any utility from 70-73 will have a G3, as well as some 69's and some 74's. And for something interesting, the professional and the special from 70-73, these are essentially alloy based utility's, and they look quite nice.

Cheers
Ty

Ive always thought that the store brand 'by Victa' mowers would be a cheap way into a mower collection, maybe not desirable but it would be interesting assortment of machines.
