Here is a Victa edger that I got from Joe on Saturday. The poor thing had been next to a shed that had caught on fire.Joe said he had replaced a few things such as the cowl and repaired the starter. When I got it home I changed the top part of the handle as it had heat damage. Also the air cleaner and the knobs that hold the handles up.I need to find a couple of hub caps as they are also a little melted.I have given it a really good clean. Also pulled the carby apart and found that the needle was in backwards. So I'm looking forward until I finish work tomorrow to see if it will run for me.Here is what it looks like now.

You'll need to get the water out of the crankcase as well as the cylinder. The emulsified oil may or may not have protected the crankshaft bearings - the oil and water usually separate after a while, and then the water does bad things. It may only be emulsified in the pictures because you had been trying to start it.

No well lucky the water and the oil had stayed together. So I have cleaned out the cylinder and the crank is fine. All looks good now.Just have to do a new head gasket and put back together.I'm happy with how it turned out.I do believe that once I have it back together it should go.Hey Joe I don't suppose you have a spare wheel for it it? The one on the left rear has a flat spot.I'd say it looks like form the heat of the fire.Unfortunately I had a 12 hour day today so I guess no putting it back together now.So hopefully tomorrow afternoon.

I get that in a lot of machiens here, especially after winter, a few decent dews, etc. I usually pull the cord on everything every few days to keep things moving, maybe thats wheat kept the oil and water mixed...

Cool I just don't have a wheel like it.Actually if you have hubcaps to that would be good.As I think 2 of them a slightly melted.

All good news here she runs. Was very smoky when she first started, but it cleared up fairly quickly.Didn't run to great to start with, but after a few minutes (just a little above idle) she came good.Ran it for about 5 minutes.Tomorrow I will give it a good run. Will take some pictures and even a video.Which I will put on you-tube.Joe you wouldn't recognize it now.Painted the engine and cleaned up the rest of it.Even took engine of the base as there was that much junk under the motor.I think there was half of somebody's lawn under it.Joe,don't worry about the wheels and hubcaps.I have ordered some new one's.As I want to keep the fresh look. After all it is dated 1996 but the way it looks now it looks more 2006 (that was hardy used) or 2011.Will show the pictures tomorrow.

Cant wait to see the pictures.

If you are not to bothered about keeping it original a 2004+ VS160 or VSX160 Victa dress cowl might look pretty good on there!

Cheers
Ty

You will notice that the air hose is still dirty as it's not quite right.I've got some others here I'm going to try tomorrow and if they fit better. Then I will change it over.If not I'll do something with this one and give it a good clean.Same with the top part of the handles it's not quite right.I'm not sure if I will fix the original one or not yet.I'm sure you will agree it does look newer than what it actually is.

Looking amazing, and yep, it certainly does not look 15 years old!

I have some end-caps for the lower handle bars you can have, as the ones in it appear to have come out.

Cheers
Ty
