Yes I was happy to find the purple VC-Sports I was looking for one.As I said before I nearly went for the one on eBay,I'm glad I held back on that.Didn't want 2. Although I haven't had a good look yet,but it does look like I will need a hub cap.Not sure about the rest. That's going to be hard to find.May have to try and repair it.Hopefully I can find another one.I will be home. You may have a choice now.I have two of the ones you want now.Although the one you looked at before is properly in better condition as the one I got today does have very rusty handles.

So who exactly make the engine? It certainly isn't a Briggs.Looks a lot different.

Although the mustangs had to have 4 square holes punched through for the lugs that the dress cowl screws into, while the sports cowl simply bolts to the cooling cowl.

Cheers
Ty

Thanks Chris that will come in handy for that mower. Now I know what it is.I will have to see whether I can get it going. The only thing I can see wrong with it is the throttle is broken.Hopefully that will be it.Seeing as there would be nobody here that would be able to fix it or get parts for it.Hopeful that's all that would be wrong with it.

I may need to put some of that knowledge to the test,as the base does have a chunk from the front missing. So I may have to find another base when it comes time to do the restore.Or should I say find one now so I can have it here before the restore.

If the bases are the same I have a orange vc sports that I will probably never do anything with if you want it added to your pile, its missing engine and carb otherwise complete...

I do have an engine from another vc sports in the carport that I could put on your pile as well if need be, pretty sure it would run iwth minimal work.

Thanks man that would be great as I'm fairly sure they would be the same base.I would have to check with Ty just to make sure.I couldn't see there being any different. If you don't want the motor then sure throw it in.I'm sure I'll find a use for it.[Censored] your making me want to jump in the car now and head off.

I just went scabbing out the front of the scrap metal yard, found a almost brand new victa commando base and a mtd mulcher missing a few bits, first mower find in months!

Jeffery, I cant see why you would find any difference in the bases, provided they are of the same era.

The colour change was simply to add more options for the customer, however, I cant recall if the bases changed at all over the years, like they did for the VC-160, I dont think they did.

Also, if Joe's origianally had a G3 on it, then the base is defineatly the dame, otherwise, it is probably the same.

If you are not in any particular need for the Engine Joe has there, May I put my hand up for it, if it is a G3 engine, it is exactly whay i need to restore my 1973 mustang.

Cheers
Ty

Unfortunately its not as good as I had hoped, the left side has a bit of bruising and the right side has a tiny chip out of it...

However, the base would be the same, as it is G3, Do you think your guy could fix it Jeffery?

Could I perhaps also put my hand up for the carby, as Jeffery is just needeing a base?

no worries, I dont want it so you can sort that between yourselves. The spare engine has a carb on it too I think.

I do think that it is a better looking base that what I have. Also I feel that I could make the repairs here with the stuff that I have.I'm only after the base. Also maybe the throttle cable as this one is also buggered. Can't seem, to get a break with these cables. Now need 4 cables. That work.So if you want the engine Ty that's fine with me. Although having just one spare carby would be good.I don't have any spare G3's.

Also I found wrapped around the handles a throttle cable for the sheerline, I'll show you the odd part attached to that cable when I get a chance.

Thats a good haul.

I got a heap of catchers sunday and yesterday, only one mower, a bloomin Talon.
Ive got so many catchers here that the first priority this week is to make a home for them. Got some mesh fence type panels, going to build a cage i think.

Best news is that i found a catcher for the Sunbeam ive got here. Might have to fix it up now.
I also got a catcher for a lightweight, its bretty bad and beat up and had some ugly patch jobs, but it might be good enough to go on my electric.
And the catcher i got for the Corvette.

Fair enough about the cords. Ive been collecting them. Well if i can find them. That doesnt bother me so much, its not a big task to put an new cord on something, and most of whats out is either stuffed or obsolete. Like i said if i can find any cords, if you blink its gone.
I was out the other evening and i saw a great heap of chair frames. Enough to stack in sideways and cover the bottom of the trailer. Was about 8pm. Thought it was a bit late to head back out at 11pm when i had unloaded my trailer, took off at 6.30 the next morning and they were gone.

What gets my goat are the guys going around with hammers bashing in the backs of TV's and Monitors to get the copper cone of the end of the tube. It leaves a mess behind. Not only that its a dangerous mess.

Whatever i take i am always mindful about not making a mess. Lots of catchers have rubbish stuffed in them, i always take it out and put it in a container or box or bag of some sort.
If im unscrewing something i alway take the screws with me too, put them in a tin. My tyres done want an attack of Karma.

That sounds fair to me Jeffery, a G3 each (The spare engine, do you know if it has a G3 Joe?)

Also Joe, what are your thoughts on the 90's flat top powertorques?

Next time i am in mittagong, I will be buying however many yellow lenth throttle cables I can Jeffery, Some I will be picking up for you, they are $8.something each, I will grab a receipt.

I am also looking for other sources.

Cheers
Ty

As much as eveeryone else doesnt like powertorque engines I like them, easy to work on, long lasting and pretty reliable if given semi regular maintinance. Most of the people whinging about them abuse them, use incorrect fuel mix, poor machine care, etc.
